AWH SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF PARAPPANANGADI
School for the Deaf Prappanangadi, Kodakkad was establised in 1992 under the management of Association for Welfare of the Handicapped(AWH),Kozhikode. The school focuses on providing comprehensive intervention to help children with speech and hearing impaled to integrate into main streams.
The school imparts free general education and vocational training to hearing impaired students. School is focusing on early intervention centre and also admitting children from Pre school to 10th standard. Free boarding and lodging facilities are provided to students.The medium of instruction is Malayalam. The school also recognised and aided byGovt. of Kerala in 1995.The school has an excellent academic background and all the 24 batches of SSLC students had secured 100% with higher grades. More than 600 children with hearing impairment received speech and language intervention and special education from the school.
One of the most remarkable feature is that the all the class rooms are smart classrooms and also have language Lab. Library. Science Lab, Auditory Verbal Therapy Room, Speech Therapy clinic etc. The best intervention unit headed by the speech and language Therapist in our school.
This is the first school in Kerala, which is having registered old parents Association(OPA) to support the school activities. We have also an old students Association(SDPA) and fathers group. There are 17 Teaching staffs are 11 non- Teaching staffs are working in the school. Students are trained in various sports, arts and work experience and compete in district level and state level competitions.
